About Ellie Ives - Soccer Without Borders Oakland

Hi. I'm Ellie Ives and I play on Acalanes' varsity soccer team. Our Acalanes program will be dedicating our soccer game (Girls NCS Game 1) to Soccer Without Borders (SWB), Oakland chapter. My goal is to raise $1,000. 

SWB Oakland serves more than 350 newcomer refugee, asylee, and immigrant boys and girls in Oakland through year-round programs and summer camps. Their programs help under-served youth in the United States and around the world that create avenues for growth, inclusion, and personal success. 

I have been volunteering with Soccer Without Borders as a coach since this summer and am hoping to give all of you at least a taste of the lifechanging work SWB has done for Oakland's youth and for me. I feel passionate about this organization because they are using soccer to give these children an opportunity to gain important life skills and tools.  If you have any questions about SWB, please reach out to me. I would love to answer them. 

I would like to expose our local soccer community to the work that the Soccer Without Borders is doing and to raise funds for a van to transport these kids to games, events, etc. They have raised $7,000 so far and  I'm trying to help them reach their goal of $10,000. If they reach $10,000, they have a donor who will match it to $20,000.
